Cool Sounds

You’d be forgiven for underestimating Melbourne's Cool Sounds based on their namesake.

The self-described “jazz-gaze” sextet was more or less born out of a joke, with it’s earliest incarnation fronting itself more as a “technology themed parody band”, than the introspective guitar-pop outfit it is today.

2016’s debut full-length ‘Dance Moves’ is testimony to their reinvention – a heady mix of shimmering synth and twangy guitar, led by Dainis Lacey’s wistful croon, and strung together by the signature purr of Liam Halliwell’s sax.

It’s a formidably polished home-production exploring themes of anxiety, self-doubt and desire, in keeping with the pedigree of a band that features members of the likes of The Ocean Party, Ciggie Witch, Pregnancy and No Local - among others.
